Theatre Academy Artistic Director
James Mack grew up in San Jose, CA and is a graduate of BYU’s Music Dance Theatre program and a member of Actors’ Equity Association. James moved to New York City a few days after graduation and worked as a professional actor in theatre, musical theatre, film and voice-overs for several years. He knows better than most the realities of living the life of an aspiring actor in the Big City. Seeking a more enjoyable path to financially support his theatrical endeavors, he attained a graduate degree in Commercial Real Estate Finance and Investment from NYU, where he won numerous awards and scholarships for his service as student body president of that program, and has continued to enjoy work in that field. James was drawn back to performing when his family moved to Utah and he was cast in two Hollywood movies and a number of commercials shot locally. He served as a member of PHS’s Board of Directors for 2 years, but is even more thrilled to be involved with the school in an artistic director role, because his true love is everything about performing and sharing that passion with others. James is married to Angela, a musical theatre graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music (CCM) program. They met when they were cast in a show together in New York City and were engaged on a Broadway stage, so theatre runs deep in their family. Their favorite joint productions are named Gabriel, Kiefer, Sienna and Alexander.
